VGC is reporting that publisher Electronic Arts has officially given the green light to a new Fight Night game, although the project is currently on hold while developer EA Canada focuses on UFC 5.
The new Fight Night game is reportedly codenamed Moneyball, and has already entered the early stages of development. However, according to an email circulated by EA Canada to its staff, the game is taking a backseat while the team works on UFC 5.
We’re very excited about UFC 5 and… we want to eliminate the split focus that several members of our leadership team have had over the past while so we can solely focus on delivering migration and UFC 5 at high quality.

This is obviously big news for Fight Night fans, as the franchise’s last instalment was released back in 2011. EA hasn’t officially announced anything yet, but the source seems pretty legit (it was posted by Tom Henderson, who is a reliable leaker on all things EA), so we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
Don’t expect to see the new Fight Night for a few years yet if it is indeed happening, however.
