Square Enix has announced details on the forthcoming Final Fantasy 14 update 4.11 and special Halloween event, All Saints’ Wake.

According to Square Enix’s press blurb, players will require even more determination to best this new addition, even more so than the Extreme and Savage difficulty battles.

Meanwhile, the Halloween-themed All Saints’ Wake will afford players the chance to acquire a unique costume and other spooky new items.

“FINAL FANTASY® XIV Online players are set for a spooky encounter this Halloween as the Continental Circus returns for All Saints’ Wake! Intrepid adventurers that make their way to the woods of Gridania between 19th October and 1st November will be able to meet a traveler from distant lands, and find out just why he’s ventured such a long way…,” said Square Enix.

Final Fantasy 14 started out life on the PC back in 2010. However, the game was plagued by various bugs from day-one, leading Square Enix to revamp the project as Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn.

This re-release of the MMORPG hit the PS3 and PC in 2013 and was met with far greater critical acclaim than its predecessor. The PS4 version arrived the following year, and is continually updated with new content, such as Heavensward and Stormblood expansions.

Earlier this month, Square Enix released Final Fantasy 14 update 4.1, offering a host of new additions including the ability to revisit old dungeons. Read our Dungeons and Raid walkthrough for more info.

Final Fantasy 14 operates on a standard monthly subscription model, with no plans to switch to a free-to-play service in the near future. Square Enix has seen tremendous success with its current subscription service however, reaching six million cumulative players in July last year.
