Final Fantasy 15 was released in November 2016 for PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC version due to arrive in early 2018.

The action-RPG was a long time coming however, having started out life way back in 2006 as PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy Versus 13.

However, with the impending arrival of then-new hardware, Square Enix opted to overhaul the project for current systems as Final Fantasy 15. Not all elements of the original Versus XIII concept survived the transition.

Despite its arduous production cycle, Final Fantasy 15 proved a massive commercial success, selling over six million copies worldwide. Its swift success also meant it became the fastest-selling entry in the venerable RPG franchise to date.

Square Enix recently confirmed plans to continue supporting the game throughout 2018 with new content. Expect more details to arrive from the latest Active Time Report hosted today in Japan.
