Square Enix has indicated that new Final Fantasy 15 DLC will focus on Ardyn Izunia past as it plans on expanding its critically acclaimed role-playing game with new game content.
Speaking during an interview with Game Legends (via Gematsu), the game’s director, Hajime Tabata, also revealed that the Japanese publisher is looking to offer a beta test for Final Fantasy 15’s multiplayer elements ahead of a formal release.

“We do have plans for something like that. Please look forward to it,” Tabata-san said, when asked if the team plans on exploring Ardyn’s past. “While I can’t say anything [on the multiplayer] right now, we plan to do a beta test before offering official service.”
Elsewhere, Tabata also touched on the chief issue when bringing Final Fantasy 15 to current-generation hardware, as the project originally started out life as the PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy Versus 13.
“Since the hardware generation changed, we had to look at everything again including the layout, usable technology, and form of production, and alongside that renew the game content to be suitable for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One generation,” he said.
Final Fantasy 15 was released in November 2016 for PS4 and Xbox One following an arduous production cycle. The game debuted to strong reviews and was a huge commercial success for Square Enix, shipping over six million copies by the start of the year and becoming the fastest-selling entry in the long-running franchise to date.
