Final Fantasy 15 was released on PS4 and Xbox One in November 2016 following a tumultuous development cycle. The project was originally scheduled to appear exclusively on the PS3 as Final Fantasy Versus 13, which formed part of the connected Fabula Nova Crystallis series of titles revolving around the polarizing 2010 entry in the venerable JRPG series.
However, the title re-emerged at E3 2013 as Final Fantasy 15, with Square Enix confirming that it scrapped the Versus project at around the 25 percent mark. Many elements of Versus were scrapped, including the character of Stella, although some features remained, notably the main cast and setting.
Square Enix confirmed earlier this month that Final Fantasy 15 will be coming to the PC in early 2018. In addition, the publisher will launch a PSVR spinoff, Final Fantasy 15 Monster of the Deep, later this year.
