The director behind the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII remake on PlayStation 4 has indicated he’d like to have a stab at overhauling both Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI.
"Considering that we have remakes of Final Fantasy up to IV and then we have VII — I’ve been working with Mr. [Yoshinori] Kitase since Final Fantasy V, and we’ve noticed that V and VI are missing. That bothers me," said Nomura-san, during an interview with VentureBeat. "How come we skipped over those two?"
Elsewhere, the developer reiterated during a chat with Dengeki Online (via Gematsu) that Final Fantasy VII won’t just be a straight remake of the PlayStation version with prettier graphics.
Nomura assured the game "won’t be a simple remake," adding that "even if we were only making the graphics prettier for a next-generation machine, I don’t think it would exceed the original version."
He added: “We haven’t put out any screenshots yet, but we’re making considerable progress, so please look forward to it."
Final Fantasy VII remake was announced during Sony’s E3 2015 press conference. A release date has yet to be confirmed.
