Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is now the second highest-rated entry in the long-running franchise of all time on Metacritic, having notched up a 93 score at the time of writing. Only Final Fantasy IX, which has a Metacritic of 94, managed to beat it.
The original Final Fantasy VII for the PSOne is just below Rebirth at 92, with Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy VI also putting in strong performances with a score of 92. You can see the full Top 10 below.

The third instalment in the Final Fantasy VII Remake project is has yet to attract a release date, but Rebirth’s director said that the game is roughly at the same stage that Rebirth was when FFVII Remake wrapped development.
