Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 Structure Should ‘Feel A Bit More Concise,’ Says Director Naoki Hamaguchi

The director on the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy has revealed during an interview with Screen Rant that the upcoming third and final entry in the project will offer a more concise structure in terms of its storytelling.

Naoki Hamaguchi touched on criticism received for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which many felt was simply too long. However, he feels that this was more of a case that people don’t have much time now to play games in their busy lives. He then talked about Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, which Hamaguchi-san says will be ‘a bit more concise.’

Regarding time management in certain sections, especially in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, I honestly don’t believe that they were longer than necessary. I feel like nowadays, players just have too much to do and too much to play; so they often feel the urge that something has to be concluded quickly.

As we work on the conclusion to the trilogy, we are striking a balance on how story arcs are told and spread out so as to ensure that the game feels a bit more concise.

Hamaguchi said during a separate interview that he believes the final chapter to the Final Fantasy VII Remake project ‘will e loved by everyone.’ Furthermore, he assured fans that the multiplatform approach to development for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 won’t have any negative impact on the project ‘whatsoever.’

Back in September this year, Hamaguchi again touched on the third chapter in the remake project during a chat with Automaton, where he assured fans that development ‘is going extremely well, and the game is shaping up nicely.’ While a concrete release date has yet to be revealed, the game director stated that ‘a lot of the content’ is playable in Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, which hopefully will ensure the game on track for the targeted 2027 launch window.
