Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward – Alexander Raid walkthrough, guide and tips

Welcome to the PS4 guide for the new Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward Alexander Raid, a new challenge which is largely designed for people who want to have some fun and experience the new storyline. The Alexander Raid Savage mode has not yet been released, so we’ll be walking you through Normal mode.

Floor 1 – Fist of The Father guide

This is the first floor in the new raid, included with the Heavensward expansion pack. The first boss is very simple to beat.

How to beat the first boss

– Have one tank stand in the middle

– One tank either kites or stands still with additional monsters

This is just a dps burn fight and don’t even bother going after anyone except Faust aka the Main boss.

How to beat the second boss

– The tank has to move the oppressor to the corner of the arena and tank it facing away from the party

– At the start all you have to do is dodge the aoe attacks

– At around 60% there will be a second Oppressor appear. You need to burn them both down at roughly the same time. They have to die together in a 15 second window or else the party will wipe.

– There will be additional enemies spawning during the fight, you need to kill these underneath the lasers to shrink down the missile so it doesn’t do too much damage to the party.

Floor 2 – Cuff of The Father guide

There is no first boss on this floor, it’s all trash up to the final and only boss. The tanks have to make sure they grab all the goblins, dolls and mechs that spawn as they seem to love to target healers straight away.

How to beat the boss

– Make sure you kill the red goblin mechs first as they give vulnerability stacks onto the tank, and then the dolls as they will give a healing debuff, this will decrease how much the healer will heal the tank for.

– There are two goblin mech suits that are used to move bombs away from the party. This is a simple enough job and really you only need to have one tech suit being used, so don’t bother having a second dps using the other suit as it will just slow down the fight.

– The suit can also cause the enemies to fight each other and can give them vulnerability stacks. Use these on the big tanks that spawn to help kill them faster, I also used it on the red goblin mechs and the dolls to help burn them.

Floor 3 – Arm of the Father guide

This floor is also mainly trash with only one boss fight.

How to beat the boss

– The boss switches between three forms. It starts off as in humanoid form and does aoe splash damage, so the party needs to make sure it has enough space to not hurt each other.

– Its second form is a Hand. This will have a knockback effect so best to tank it in the middle of the arena because outside the arena is covered in electricity and causes paralyze damage. Both tanks need to stand in front of the hand form as the damage will be split between the two.

– The final form is a tornado. You need to make sure you don’t stand too close to it or you will be tethered to it; if this happens run away from the tornado to the side.

– You will also randomly get a tether with another player that is a + or -. If you both have + then run together, but if you have + and they have – run as far apart as possible otherwise you will get a major debuff.

– You also need to burn the adds before they leave the arena or they do damage+paralyze; you can stun the enemies if need be.

– The final part is just a mix of all the other parts but the tank has to switch every so often.

Floor 4 – Burden of the Father guide

How to beat the boss

– Every attack the enemy does causes splash damage, so make sure you keep a good distance away from the rest of the party.

– Tanks will have to run into the orbs that leach onto other players or they will take a lot of damage. You can stun the leg’s when steam comes out of them.

During the next phase you will have additional enemies spawn, these will add a debuff that if it has a chance to stack upto 4 times will instantly kill the target, so make sure you kill these as fast as possible.

– On the final form make sure healers stay apart from each other as they have a damage over time effect that will spread to anyone close to them, including the other healer. Also make sure the tank stands in front of the boss as it will do a high damage attack every so often.
