Returning to Final Fantasy XIV once more is the Yo-kai Watch event. This event is great for folk who wish to collect new minions, weapon glamours and some unique-looking mounts. The previous incarnation of this event also added a framer kit, but it’s now added three extra housing items. These housing items will be purchasable with MGP once you have completed the event.
The housing items are wibbly-wobbly Jibanyan, wibbly-wobbly Komasan, and wibbly-wobbly USApyon. Just remember, if you have completed the quest previously, you will be unable to redo the quest. The event will be running from August 4, 2026, 8AM (GMT) to October 5 (14:59) GMT; please convert this time to your local timezone.
Making Friends, Slaying Foes
To start the quest, you must first make sure you have the gold saucer unlocked. The quest is called “It Could Happen to You” and can be located at Ul’dah – Steps of Nald (X:9.6 Y:9.0). The quest is around level 15, and if you have started in a different city, you will need to unlock the airship from the MSQ, which doesn’t take too long. Once the Gold Saucer is unlocked, you then have to visit “Poor Heeled Youth” at (X:9.2, Y:9.1) in Ul’dah – Steps of Nald. Once the quest is over, you will be given a Yo-kai Watch and a Yo-kai Medallium. The watch is used to acquire Yo-kai Medals.
First you will need to start acquiring your Yo-kai minions. These minions can be purchased from the Gold Saucer. The first minion costs a single medal, and then the rest will cost three medals, meaning in total you will need 49 medals. Furthermore, to get the Yo-kai Weapons, you will need five legendary medals for the first weapon, and then any other weapon will cost 10 legendary medals. This means for all 17 weapons, as the shield is bundled with the sword, you will need 165 legendary medals.
Are Yo-Kai To Do This?
To first gain the normal Yo-kai watch medals, you will have to do fates around the following locations:
-A Realm Reborn: La Noscea, The Black Shroud, Thanalan
-Heavensward: All Regions
-Stormblood: All Regions
In addition, you have the Yo-kai watch equipped (yes, you will need to equip the watch to be able to get the items needed for the minions). The item is level 1, so you will be able to equip it on any job, so if you have jobs around the level of the zones for the event, you can use this event to level up any jobs you may not have played before. You will need to get a Silver or Gold rating for the fate to acquire the minion.
Once you have collected some of the minions, it might be a good idea to start farming the Legendary Medals. With these medals you will need to complete fates with the minion out; some of these locations also drop the normal minion medals, so you can farm both the minions for future weapons and a weapon at the same time.
The locations of each weapon and minion are set locations around Eorzea, though they have a couple of different ones each.

It Glows In The Dark!
Once you have unlocked 13 Yo-kai Minions, you will be able to get the Whisper-Go Mount from the achievement, ‘You must needs befriend them all I.’ You’ll also be able to unlock the achievement ‘More Inventory Slots, Please’ after you’ve unlocked 13 Yo-kai weapons. This will give you the Whisper-A-Go-Go mount, which is a version of the original mount that will glow at night. Once you have completed all 17 Yo-kai weapons, you will be able to get the Jibayan Couch with the achievement ‘More Inventory Slots, Please II.’ There is also an achievement for all the minions, but the 17 minion achievement gives no real reward; hower, once you do have all the minions, you can talk to Nohi in the Gold Saucer (X5.2,Y6.9) to purchase the framers kit for 20,000 MGP. He is also selling furniture items for 5,000 MGP each.
