Final Fantasy XIV Naoki Yoshida News PS4 PS5 square enix Square Enix Board of Directors

Final Fantasy XIV’s Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida Is No Longer On Square Enix’s Board Of Directors

Naoki Yoshida, the director on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and affectionately known by fans as Yoshi-P, is no longer a member of the board of directors at Square Enix.

The news comes from an updated list of executives at the company, where Yoshida-san is no longer listed on the board of directors despite remaining listed as an executive elsewhere on Square Enix’s website.

The publisher hasn’t announced that Yoshida is no longer a member of its board of directors, although back in 2023 he said in an interview, “I don’t want to be on the board, it’s much more fun to just make games.” This suggests that departed the board by choice, although we don’t know for certain yet.

Yoshida has remained the public face of Final Fantasy XIV for years now, and also served as producer on Final Fantasy XVI. However, back in January 2024, he said that the next chapter in the venerable RPG series should be directed by someone else, preferably the younger generation of developers.
