Final Fantasy XV dev hopes for simultaneous worldwide launch

Square Enix’s Hajime Tabata has spoke of his desire to give Final Fantasy XV a simultaneous worldwide launch.

Speaking with Level Up, the FFXV game director said that the company is hoping to have the hotly anticipated JRPG out in Japan and the west at around the same time.

Tabata-san said this would ensure gamers will be able to enjoy the same experience at the same time, as opposed to those in the west having to resort to YouTube to view footage of the Japanese version.

Typically, Final Fantasy games appear in the U.S. and Europe some months after the Japanese version, mainly due to the time it takes to record the English voice acting for the localized edition.

As for the release date itself, Tabata-san noted he still isn’t sure exactly when the game will hit stores.

Final Fantasy XV is currently in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game was previously known as the PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII before it emerged at E3 2013 under a new title.

Square Enix previously commented that it will be a difficult task for gamers to finish the title within 40 hours.
