Final Fantasy XV story will be ‘hard’ to complete in 40 hours

Speaking during an interview with Kotaku, Final Fantasy XV Game Director, Hajime Tabata, said that the upcoming JRPG’s story will be difficult for gamers to clear within 40 hours.

Tabata-san said that initially the plan was to have players to be able to finish the title within this time frame, although that’s since changed.

"Originally, we were aiming so that the entire [FFXV] story could potentially be cleared within 40 hours. But looking at the current volume of what’s becoming available, it’s looking harder and harder to clear within that time."

He also touched on the release timing for the FFXV demo, which is being given away with early copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.

“In terms of when consumers will be able to play the demo, it hasn’t been officially announced but we’ve mentioned in Japan that we’re working very hard towards making it available around the timing of when Type-0 HD releases. So that’s our current goal.”

As for the size of the demo, which features the Duscae Region, Tabata-san commented that “it’s become bigger than [the developers] anticipated,” and previous claims that the teaser would be ⅕ of the full game’s size no longer apply.

Final Fantasy XV is due out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
