The upcoming high-definition ports of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 were not handled by Square Enix, but rather outsourced to Shanghai-based studio, Virtuous.
This is despite previous hints that Square Enix itself was taking the reins on the HD conversion, much like with Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX.
For those of you scratching your heads, Virtuous is best known for working on 2K Sports titles, specifically the conversion process involved in bringing the games to Nintendo Wii. They also collaborated on numerous Ben 10 titles.
Final Fantasy X/X-2 will be released for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in spring 2014.
