ScreenDaily has reported that UK-based film website FindAnyFilm.com has joined the PlayStation Store API (application programming interface). This is a big move for the Video-On-Demand site who just a few days ago added Yahoo Movies to their current list of partners Indie London and Cine-Vue.
FindAnyFilm combines movie listings, DVD, Blu-ray, and UltraViolet releases, as well as digital download and streaming services with hopes that consumers will look to their service instead of online piracy.
Mark de Quervain, Partnerships Director of FindAnyFilm, said to ScreenDaily, “It’s great that Playstation Store is now part of FindAnyFilm.com as the content is already connected to users’ home systems giving them an easy route to watching and enjoying films.”
Speaking with AdvancedTelevision.com, Gordon Thornton, Vice President, Sony Network Entertainment Europe acknowledged that the company had been working with FindAnyFilm.com to make purchasing films much easier for consumers.
“PlayStation Store offers a great range of the latest movies and TV shows in both standard and high definition, as well as 3D where possible, meaning that customers will be spoiled for choice and can rely on our video quality, which is best in class.”
FindAnyFilm.com was created by the Industry Trust for IP Awareness in order to minimize online privacy. But will the addition of this service, along with the variety of video options on the PlayStation Network, send a big blow to online piracy? Let us know your thoughts below.
