Firewatch gets 30 minutes of PS4 gameplay

PlayStation Access has gained access to the first 30 minutes of Campo Santo’s upcoming PlayStation 4 adventure-puzzle title, Firewatch.

The video offers a look at some of the basic gameplay mechanics featured in Firewatch, including the radio, which you’ll use to communicate with your base, as well as plenty of exploration in the surrounding wilderness. Check it out below.

Firewatch is scheduled for release as a digital download on February 9 for $19.99. Set in the Wyoming wilderness in 1989, one year after the infamous Yellowstone fires, Firewatch casts players in the role of a lookout named Henry, who has been assigned to the Shoshone National Forest.

Players will explore the surrounding forest area and gather clues regarding strange occurrences in the area, as well as solving various puzzles you come across. Henry’s only form of communication is a rudimentary walkie-talkie, which he uses to converse with his supervisor, Delilah, and your relationship with her can change depending on your dialogue choices.

Much of the game is being kept under wraps by the San Francisco-based developer, and it isn’t known what kind of tone the game will take beyond the basic info we already know. Nonetheless, Firewatch is already shaping up to be one of the most intriguing titles for PS4 this year, and features a striking art style that sets it apart from many of the year’s upcoming highlights.

Stay tuned to PSU for more Firewatch coverage as we get it.
