Firmware 2.30 details; PSN Store presented by Grace Chen

Firmware 2.30 is expected to be available on April 15 and along with it will be the release of the newly redesigned PlayStation Store. The Official PlayStation Blog has taken it upon themselves to treat the readers with a walkthrough of the new store presented by Grace Chen. We’ve included the video below for your viewing pleasure, enjoy it:

On top of the nicely detailed walkthrough, the blog has also released the details for the upcoming firmware 2.30. Due to the feedback and outcry of home theatre enthusiasts, Sony is finally giving its users the best audio quality to go along with their top of the line high definition video support.

Yes, this does mean that DTS-HD Master Audio output will now be available via your PlayStation 3 console. This audio track is the exact replication of the one used by the studios to film the movie. This means your audio will be delivered at the impressively high rate of 24.5 mega-bits per second. Alongside this addition, the firmware will also bring DTS-HD High Resolution Audio which is apparently very similar to the DTS-HD Master Audio except for the fact that it takes up a lot less disc space.

When you add in the new store offering with the two updated audio options, you come away with a very impressive firmware update around the corner. There is at least a little something for everyone out of this one and with the newly found belief that Home may possibly make an appearance within this update, it becomes something to potentially look forward to; however, don’t hold your breath or get those hopes up too high.

We’ll keep you updated with future firmware updates down the road, keep checking in.
