First Borderlands DLC out this year

The first downloadable content for Borderlands, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, is scheduled for release later this year, 2K Games announced today. The DLC is being developed by Gearbox Software and will cost $9.99 USD.

With the release of Borderlands coming to PlayStation 3 and other platforms next week, 2K Games and Gearbox Software are hard at work to keep the game fresh over the coming months. The Zombie Island DLC sets players on a task to assist Dr. Ned, who created zombies and other abominations that are set loose on the island. This new expansion will provide new quests, rare loot drops, and new enemies. This is the first in a series of planned DLC packs for Borderlands.

Borderlands will be available at retailers in North America on Oct. 20 and everywhere else on Oct. 23. The game features co-op integration that blends the single-player and multiplayer experiences. Players can freely join or leave each other’s games at any time. The game also features a weapon generation system that offers a near infinite variety of weapons to the player.
