Formula Fusion, the spiritual successor to WipEout, gets the green light

With Formula Fusion hitting Kickstarter just 30 days ago, the WipEout successor has now ended its campaign with a total of £79,656. With only 24 hours to spare it seemed like the second stretch goal was not going to be met as the proceeds were sat at under £63,000. However, with a fast and frantic final day that number jumped up to supersede the ESL stretch goal of £75,000 by raking in an impressive £17,000.

Despite not being advertised or having as strong a nostalgic feeling as Yooka-Laylee (Banjo-Kazooie) or Bloodstained (Castlevania), it seems that word-of-mouth alone has managed to push Formula Fusion to its stretch goal.

During the campaign the game was also added to Steam Greenlight. Following this, it took a mere five days to be Greenlit thanks to an unanimous “yes” from members of the voting public.

Unfortunately, it was a bit too late to reach the console stretch goal, which would have seen the title released alongside the PC version. As such, the game will simply be released at a later date for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Nonetheless, at least Sony fans will finally get their hands on the spiritual successor to WipEout that they have been craving for all this time.
