The PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 has reportedly sold over five million units worldwide, according to Rhys Elliot, an analyst with Alina Analytics.
The sales milestone means that the open-world racer has pulled in an estimated $300 million for Microsoft, despite it arriving four years after the original Xbox Series X/S versions of the game. “Xbox’s move to third-party is no mystery, especially given Microsoft’s lofty profitability mandates,” commented Elliot.
Forza Horizon 5 was originally released in November 2021 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, and attracted over 10 million players during its first week alone. The game takes place in an open world that is a fictionalised representation of Mexico, and is the largest map in the franchise to date and 50% larger than its predecessor.

Playground Games is currently working on the next instalment in the series, Forza Horizon 6, which is set to come to the PS5 at some point after its PC and Xbox Series X/S debut. Microsoft will be revealing more details about the game during its Xbox Developer Direct 26 later this month.
