Games For Carers Revealed, Provides 85,000 Free Games To NHS Workers

Frontline NHS workers in the UK helping to battle the coronavirus can claim a free game or subscription thanks to a new initiative, Games for Carers.

Games For Carers Confirmed For NHS Workers

Games for Carers was conceived by video games journalist Chris Scullion and has the support of major game studios including EA, Codemasters, Konami, Sega, Media Molecule, Xbox and Team 17. The initiative has over 85,000 games available spanning multiple platforms.

Scullion commented:

Someone suggested giving it to an NHS worker, and I thought that was a great idea, but I ended up getting three or four NHS workers asking to claim it. I thought, ‘wouldn’t it be great to get codes for a bunch of NHS workers instead of just one?” So I reached out to my contacts in the game industry to see if any of them had any spare codes that I could pass on.

I ended up getting in touch with Ukie, and at that point the idea grew arms and legs in the best way.

With Ukie able to reach out to its contacts and Keymailer offering to help out with distribution, we’re now looking at around 85,000 codes available when the site launches on Wednesday, with more on the way should they be needed.

NHS staff have been crucial in the fight against COVID-19, providing frontline support. To show their support, UK residents are encouraged to gather outside their homes every Thursday at 8.00pm to applaud the NHS for all of their hard work during the crisis.
