One’s a cult hit and fan favorite, and the other is an iteration of one of the world’s biggest shooter franchises. We’re talking about Mirror’s Edge and Battlefield: Bad Company, and a recent interview gives reason to believe that a sequel is coming for both franchises.
Speaking with IGN at gamescom, DICE executive producer Patrick Bach reconfirmed his studio’s stance on IP sustainability, discussing Mirror’s Edge 2 and Bad Company 3, specifically. "We love [Mirror’s Edge], and of course we haven’t killed it, because it’s too good to kill." These words might give heart to fans of Fayth’s rooftop-running adventure, but Bad Company fans shouldn’t feel forgotten either. "The Bad Company IP is still something we love, and it’s very dear to me," Bach said. DICE has no information about plans for a sequel, but it seems that they’re at least considering the possibility.
Bach continued the interview by mentioning that his team has unannounced projects in the works, so it might not be long before we hear more about these two games. Then again, with Battlefield 4 on the horizon, the team certainly has its hands full.
Let us know in the comments if you’d like to see a sequel to either Mirror’s Edge or Bad Company 2, and stay glued to PSU.com for more gamescom coverage throughout the week.
