When the brains behind the Halo series announce a brand new sci-fi I.P. then you have to sit up and take notice.
The action, role-playing game Destiny has players fighting to save humanity from an alien invasion. Press were treated to a behind-closed-doors viewing of Destiny at Gamescom which showcased the open-world setting of Old Russia and some glorious landscapes, while giving us an indication of exactly how much potential the game has to wow us on its release in 2014.
Each mission is designed with co-op play in mind and players can jump into each other’s games seamlessly. Players can look forward to evolving abilities, great enemy and weapon variety and gripping boss fights. With Bungie’s FPS know-how, we can expect some superb level design and some of the silky-smooth mechanics that helped make Halo such a popular series.
Bungie did an amazing job with Halo’s multiplayer on Xbox and we can’t wait to see what it has planned for the PlayStation Network, which will include on-the-fly matchmaking. Destiny certainly has the potential to be one of the best multiplayer games to have ever graced a PlayStation console and its single player component is shaping up rather nicely too.
