GamesMaster Sir Patrick Moore passes away

Legendary astronomer and broadcaster Sir Patrick Moore has passed away, aged 89.

The Sky at Night presenter, also best remembered as the GamesMaster to a whole generation of gamers for his work on the 90s TV show, died peacefully at his home in West Sussex yesterday.

Moore had presented The Sky at Night, broadcast on the BBC, for over 50 years and starred as the GamesMaster from 1992-1998 in the eponymous Channel 4 show. In the programme, Moore was presented as a disembodied head that handed out cheats, tips and challenges to gamers.

“What? He also did a show about planets? I just did the puerile gags. But he WAS the Gamesmaster. RIP Sir Patrick Moore, a true original,” Tweeted former GamesMaster presented, Dominik Diamond.

During his early years, Moore served in the Royal Air Force during World War II where he took on the role of a navigator for RAF Bomber Command, eventually reaching the rank of flight lieutenant.
