If you’re in Ireland, you’re in luck. 2024 has some exciting gaming events in the Calendar. If you don’t live in Ireland, Ryanair flights are cheap. You could travel tomorrow (January 25th) from Birmingham to Dublin for £14.99. And we’d recommend you look into it.
Below, we’ll list some of the gaming events, conventions, tournaments, and meetups we think are worth attending.
GamerFest – 25th – 26th May
GamerFest is the main gaming event in Ireland. It’s massive. Scheduled for the 25th and 26th of May, it’s the biggest event of the year. The Saturday and Sunday general admission tickets are €24.00 and the entire weekend is €41.00. And it is probably worth getting a weekend general admission ticket – there are tons of things happening across both days, from the Mooju Live Stage to numerous special guests like TikTok Ryan Mar and Irish influencer Shauna Davitt.
Whether you’re a hardcore gamer, a lover of online games, or just want to have fun, we’d recommend this festival to anyone.
Dublin Card Show – February 24th
The Dublin Card Show will be at The Convention Centre, Dublin. Collectors and vendors from Ireland and beyond gather at the award-winning convention centre for the event powered by Topps.
You’ll find sports cards ready for trade or sale, like Football and Formula 1, and card games.
It’s not just cards, the event will showcase some sensational Irish sporting memorabilia. And thanks to partnering with Kit Con Éire, they’ll be co-hosting their annual football kit convention. You should be able to secure some football shirt bargains.
It’s actually a random day full of many things to do; it’s not totally about card games, although that will be the primary focus.
Cork Action League – Every Monday Night from 7-10 pm
The Cork Action League is a bit of fun you can have every Monday in Cork. Every Monday night, from 7-10 pm, a community-focused group gathers at Bodega! (44-45 Cornmarket St, Centre, Cork, T12 W27H), to explore board games beyond the games we grew up with, such as Monopoly or Scrabble. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a newcomer looking to improve your game, the Cork Action League welcomes all with open arms – it’s not about being the best. It’s just about having fun with other people who enjoy board games.
There are 2,315 members in the MeetUp group. Not all of them attend, don’t worry, but it shows how popular the group is.
Irish Gaming Market – Spring Edition – 30th March
The Irish Gaming Market, set for its Spring Edition on the 30th of March, will be good. As stated by the Irish Gaming Market, they want to create events like this across the country to allow gaming enthusiasts, creators, collectors, and traders to come together. You’ll find this event at the
CityNorth Hotel & Conference Centre, located 30 minutes from Dublin City.
You’ll find cool cards, collectables, and like-minded people. They host this event yearly, and it’s definitely worth a visit. Tickets will be between €12 – €20, so it’s pretty cheap for the experience. And there’ll be food and drinks there – even better. It brings something different to the gaming industry, and people love it.
2024 will be a good year for gaming in Ireland. And like we say, it’s super cheap to travel from Europe. These events show just how popular gaming is becoming, and there are more events across Europe. The LAN event at the NEC in Birmingham will be massive, and so will the Dream Hack Valencia in Spain. Just Google gaming events in the country you want to visit, and you’ll find one.
Still, Ireland is one of the best. The country itself is incredible. When you aren’t gaming you won’t be short of things to do.
