After months of rumours, Microsoft has officially announced that Gears of War: Reloaded, a fully remastered version of the classic 2006 cover-shooter, is coming to PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on August 26, 2025.
Billed as the most complete version of the iconic shooter to date, Gears of War Reloaded, and includes all post-launch content at no additional cost, such act he bonus Campaign act, all multiplayer maps and modes, plus classic characters and cosmetics. Furthermore, Gears of War Reloaded fully supports Cross-Play with no Microsoft account required, but signing in unlocks Cross-Progression and the ability to send invites and play with friends across all supported formats.

Gears of War: Reloaded completely overhauls the original title with remastered textures, 4K assets, enhanced post-processing visual effects, support for 60 FPS during the campaign and 120 FPS for multiplayer, and 4K resolution among other features. The game’s release comes just one year ahead of the series’ 20th anniversary, with Gears of War having launched in Fall 2006 for the Xbox 360.
Right now it’s unknown if Microsoft will be bringing Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3 to the PS5 in remastered form, with previous reports of a Gears of War Collection coming this year seemingly no longer the case.
