Genshin Impact‘s version 1.2 update has been revealed by miHoYo and it brings the first map update to the game with Dragonspine, which will launch on December 23, 2020.

Discussing the update on the PlayStation Blog, Dragonspine is a frozen mountain range in the south of Mondstadt and is highly inhospitable. Dragonspine will introduce a whole new environment to explore, mysteries, creatures, treasures, and dangers to uncover. Dragonspine is full of wilderness and structures to explore and survive within as there is a new Sheer Cold effect which will affect you during fighting, exploring or just standing in Dragonspine. You will have to use heat sources to traverse the landscape and stay warm. But, you will be able to craft a portable heat source as you progress through the area.

Buried deep in the mountain of Dragonspine there is a long-lost ancient civilisation, with stone slabs and tablets remaining to tell their story, which will trigger a series of quests. new materials and ingredients are also available in the area. This update will also come alongside a winter event “The Chalk and the Dragon” which will take place in this new area for those at Adventure Rank 20 or above.

Genshin Impact is available now on PS4 and playable on PS5 through backwards compatibility.
