One of the most frustrating aspects of playing any online multiplayer shooter is trying to deal with the spawn campers. Those strategically-inept individuals, who park up by your spawn point and wait for you to walk around the corner before taking you down, can be an absolute pain in the ass. In the original Ghost Recon spawn camping was rife, but as the series has developed Red Storm Entertainment has advanced its system to try and tackle the problem.
In Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, the French developer has cooked up a new method to counteract spawn camping. At a Ghost Recon: Future Soldier event in London this week, creative director Tommy Jacob told PSU that the new reinforce system should put off spawn campers and alleviate the frustrations experienced from being boxed into your camp.
Reinforce kicks in when one team is getting boxed into their spawn area by the opposition. The system will recognise that the team is not making much progress and open up a secondary spawn position. This new spawn point won’t be restricted to just one area either, but will change places every time so that the other team won’t be able to second guess where you’ll appear.
In theory, this should mean that potential spawn campers will keep their distance, which is great news for those who want to play Ghost Recon: Future Soldier properly.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is due for release on May 25th on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A PC version will follow in June. The beta kicks-off later this week.
