Ubisoft has announced that a Ghost Recon Wildlands free trial is now available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The open-world tactical shooter can be taken for a five-hour test run, with the trial available worldwide for free on consoles.

Ghost Recon Wildlands was released on PS4, PC, and Xbox One back in March, and remains one of the best-selling games of the year so far. However, it didn’t launch with any form of competitive multiplayer, something which Ubisoft looks set to remed with a PvP mode launching later this year, preceded by a beta.

The PvP mode will be known as Ghost War and will pit two teams against each other in four versus four deathmatches. Players can choose from a variety of classes allowing them to take on a specific role on the battlefield, which are made up of sprawling maps that take full advantage of the series’ trademark squad-based gameplay.

Set in Bolivia, Wildlands tasks players with taking down a massive drug cartel by systematically wiping out key figures in the organisation, thus whittling down the cartel’s influences and defenses in the region.
