PlayStation’s European arm has announced that Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered is heading to the PlayStation 4 in 2019, with a debut trailer now available to feast your eyes on. The classic spook-’em-up was previously released for last-generation consoles back in 2009, and was outed via a Taiwanese ratings board earlier this month.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered Trailer Showcases Visual Upgrade
Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered takes the original co-op spook fest and spruces it up with a number of improvements, including high-resolution visuals as you’d probably expect. Aside from that, it looks a lot like what you remember back in 2009; the film cast is all here, with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson lending their voices and likeness to the game.
While people have been waiting years for Ghostbusters 3, which is probably never going to happen now, Ghostbusters: The Video Game actually served as a sort of semi-official sequel to the film series. It’s actually great, too, and we didn’t miss the prospect of a third film after playing through it back on PS3 a decade ago.
Aside from the cast, the game also includes the soundtrack from the first Ghostbusters film as well as appearances from key characters, locations, and props featured in the movies. Ghostbusters: The Video Game takes place two years after the events of Ghostbusters II, and sees the titular organisation training the player’s character while tackling paranormal activity in New York City.
The original PS3 and Xbox 360 release also featured multiplayer, with co-op available with up to three players across a series of missions separate from the main campaign. The game was a success too, selling over one million copies worldwide just a month after its release.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered has yet to attract a release date, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear something.
