GK Films acquires Tomb Raider movie rights

The Hollywood Reporter’s claimed that GK Films has snapped up the film rights to the multi-million dollar selling Tomb Raider franchise.

GK’s aiming to “create daring new adventures for the young and dynamic Lara Croft,” and plans on getting its inaugural Tomb Raider flick in cinemas some time in 2013.

Details are sketchy at best right now, though murmurs have indicated the project could be a reboot, echoing a similar path that Crystal Dynamics is currently pursuing with its new Tomb Raider title for current gen hardware.

Curvy heroine Lara Croft is no stranger to the silver screen, having popped up in two blockbuster films in recent years with Angelina Jolie strapping on the infamous backpack and hot pants. Both movies pulled in $432 million worldwide.
