Sony will announce the next chapter in the multi-million God of War series during its E3 2016 press conference later today.
That’s at least according to industry insider Shinobi602, who claims that while series protagonist Kratos will be making a return, he may not be the main character in God of War 4.
In addition, the tipster suggested that the sequel may not actually carry the number four in the title, hinting it may use a subtitle instead.
God of War 4 rumored to focus Norse Mythology
Rumors on a new chapter in the God of War franchise have been doing the rounds for a while now. Recently, leaked concept art purported to originate from the new game suggested that it’ll focus on Norse mythology, with a bearded Kratos also depicted in the art.
Sony has yet to announce any plans for the future of the God of War series, although given it’s been three years since God of War: Ascension, we’re surely due another outing in the near future.
God of War debuted on PlayStation 2 in 2005 and has become a tentpole franchise among Sony’s first-party output, selling 21 million copies worldwide as of September 2012.
