God of War PS4 upgrade system will be new & involve Norse mythology

With Sony Santa Monica’s upcoming PlayStation 4 God of War taking on a new story and new setting, some fans might have been wondering how the upgrade system for combat will work. Will it be the same as in past games where you get orbs and choose which moves to "buy?" While we don’t know every exact detail, we do know the God of War PS4 upgrade system will be new, and have a Norse mythology focus.

In the October issue (#140)) of the Official PlayStation Magazine, Sony Santa Monica revealed that the God of War PS4 upgrade system will be new, and will involve Norse characters Brokk and Eitri, who will help with the weapons and skills upgrades for Kratos. Brokk and Eitri are dwarven brothers who forge weapons in Norse mythology, and is responsible for forging Mjollnir (Thor’s hammer). It’s said that one of the two has already been shown in one of the E3 trailers, and both dwarves will help shape how you’ll play the game, though we still don’t have the specifics.

With Amazon leaking the God of War PS4’s Deluxe Edition contents, and confirming it’ll have armor sets, it seems we’ll be able to (finally) customize Kratos’ entire equipment and not just his combat skills. That’s not the only thing new in God of War PS4, as Sony has confirmed the game will have "hidden questlines" too.

Set for release sometime in 2018, God of War on PS4 will be the "most brutal" entry in the series according to Sony.

Are you happy with this change or should Sony Santa Monica stick to the combat progression that fans have been used to over the years?
