God Of War Ragnarok Developer Talks The Last Of Us Part 2 Inspiration And Possibility Of Playable Atreus

Sony Santa Monica Studio, the developer behind the highly anticipated God of War Ragnarok, has revealed the team is looking to The Last of Us Part 2 for inspiration behind the upcoming sequel. Furthermore, it also addressed the possibility of making Atreus fully playable.

Speaking during the studio’s latest podcast, Sony Santa Monica’s concept artist, Samuel Matthews, discussed a number of topics regarding Kratos’ next adventure, which is currently slated for release on the PS5 in 2021.

The Last of Us had a big impact on development of God of War (2018), so it’s perhaps unsurprising the developer is looking to the sequel for inspiration on the next game. With Ellie stepping up as the main playable character in The Last of Us Part 2, could we see Atreus’ role extended for Ragnarok?
