Ryan Hurst, who portrayed Thor in God of War Ragnoark, has officially been cast as Kratos in Amazon’s upcoming God of War series.
Casting has now begun for the series and pre-production is underway in Vancouver, Canada, with a two-season order placed. Aside from playing Thor, God of Thunder in 2022’s God of War Ragnarok, Hurst is also well-known for his role in Sons of Anarchy, as well as The Walking Dead, SWAT, The Mysterious Benedict Society, and will appear in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey later this year.
The God of War series will follow Kratos and his young son, Atreus, as they journey to scatter the ashes of Kratos’ wife, Faye, as depicted in 2018’s God of War. For All Mankind’s Ronald D. Moore is serving as executive produce rand show runner for the God of War series, and will also feature Maria Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Hermen Hulst, and Roy Lee among others as executive producer.
The God of War series launched for the PS2 back in 2005 and celebrated its 20th anniversary last year.
