Mega Cat Studios and Sony Santa Monica Studios have revealed that players can now unlock the God of War Sons of Sparta two-player challenge mode without having to complete the main story.
The game attracted criticism on its release as it was originally believed that the co-op mode would be available from the get-go, as the PlayStation Store description listed “1-2 players.” However, it was soon discovered this mode was only unlock able after finishing the campaign, and it turned out to be a roguelike challenge mode.
In response to the criticism, Mega Cat Studios has now confirmed that you can access the co-op mode by inputting the following code on the start menu:
Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, L1, R1, Touchpad
God of War Sons of Sparta is a prequel to the franchise and takes place before God of War Ascension, and sees players controlling Kratos in his youth as he trains with brother Deimos at the Agoge. The siblings travel throughout Laconia in an effort to find their missing comrades, which sees them facing off against foes from Greek mythology. The narrative is recalled by an older Kratos to his daughter Calliope, while he serves as a captain in the Spartan Army prior to the first God of War.
