Golden Joystick Awards results, new Battlefield 3 expansion confirmed

Valve’s critically lauded puzzle Portal 2 has nabbed the Ultimate Game of the Year gong at the 2011 GamesMaster Golden Joystick Awards.

The awards bash, held at London’s Park Plaza, also played host to the announcement of a new Battlefield 3 expansion pack (full details of which have yet to be revealed), and honoured SEGA’s venerable Sonic the Hedgehog franchise with the Outstanding Contribution Award.

Other notable winners include Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (Action/Adventure Game of the Year), The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (One To Watch Award) and Call of Duty: Black Ops (Shooter Game of the Year).

James Kick, Associate Publisher of The GamesMaster Golden Joystick Awards, commented, "The GamesMaster Golden Joystick Awards is officially the biggest — and certainly the best — celebration of video games in the world. This year the categories were even more closely contested than ever — but the gaming public have spoken, and today’s winners really are the cream of a fantastic crop."
