It’s been over a year now since the PlayStation 3 launched and sadly enough, not one title thus far has reached 1,000,000 preorders. With PlayStation 2 featuring more than a handful of titles reaching that plateau, it comes as a surprise to realize it hasn’t happened yet this generation. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has finally changed that as Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has confirmed that the game has received over one million preorders thus far.
When you look at the success of Warhawk and how much it was downloaded in comparison to bought on BD format, its almost shocking to see GT5 Prologue do what it is doing. Its developers feel it will receive an even larger welcome than Warhawk did as a downloadable game, which would invevitably push the total sales through the roof.
With the game scheduled for release in late March and then set for release in mid-April for North America, its only a matter of time until we get to see the first week sales figures. As more information is released about this, we’ll keep you up to date.
