Polyphony Digital‘s Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed during a roundtable interview with press at the Gran Turismo World Series 2025 World Finals in Japan recently that Gran Turismo 7 still enjoys two million monthly active users, and that figure is continuing to grow.
Yamauchi-san noted that this momentum has never been seen before by the studio or PlayStation as a whole, observing GT7’s current state as the ”best of any Gran Turismo titles we’ve had in the past.”
Gran Turismo 7 has been released for several years, but still, the active users are currently over 2 million people, and the new users are increasing. The status that Gran Turismo 7 is in now is probably the best of any Gran Turismo titles that we’ve had in the past. We’ve never experienced this phenomenon before, and neither has PlayStation.
The series producer noted that updates such as the Power Pack and the upcoming Spec III have apparently reinvigorated players, with Yamauchi noted that the Power Pack has allowed the development team to take on “different challenges” previously unavailable to them.
It’s not just Gran Turismo 7 that is enjoying continued success, as the series as a whole has now passed the 100 million sales milestone. The series originally launched for the PlayStation in December 1997 in Japan, and has gone on to appear on PS2, PSP, PS3, PS4 and of course PS5.
