Grand Theft Auto Online continues to receive lots of love from Rockstar with its latest update. Executives and Other Criminals went live earlier today for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and it’s packed with so many goodies you’d think that Christmas came early this year. Among other added perks, this update brings Los Santos 8 new game modes and challenges, 13 new properties, 12 new vehicles, 2 new weapons, new clothing, and, oh yeah, a Super Yacht.
Executives and Other Criminals gives players a whole new way to play GTA Online by letting players create their own crime rings. Players with over $1 million in the bank have the option to become a VIP and create their own organization, with the ability to hire up to three other players as bodyguards. To become a VIP, players simply access the new SecuroServ menu under the Player Interaction Menu and start building up their own organization (if you’ve got enough dough for it).
For the less fiscally endowed, you can join up as Bodyguards by getting invites through the SecuroServe app by setting your status to “looking for work.” Perks of being a bodyguard – aside from the constant gunfights – are a steady supply of ammo and armor, new on-demand vehicles including the Turreted Limo, and call-in favors like Ghost Organization which removes your organization from the radar for a short period of time. Bodyguards also get a steady income of $5000, extra cash and RP from doing VIP Work and VIP Challenges, faster health regen, and bonus RP and stat boosts when near their VIP.
Executives and Other Criminals comes packing with a plethora of new games and challenges, including:
Hostile Takeover: An unknown package is held within a restricted area, and organizations compete to collect the package and deliver it to a set location. Sounds deceptively simple, but when the ‘package’ is a tank held inside Fort Zancudo, things get tricky fast.
Asset Recovery sends your organization to LSPD stations around the city to recover impounded vehicles. It’s up to your outfit to free up those assets and return them to a designated location, while the cops and other players in the session will be looking to destroy your vehicles.
Piracy Prevention is attack and defense on the decks of a luxurious Super Yacht. Defending players spawn on the yacht while attacking players spawn on shore with access to boats, helis and Seasharks ready to head out and capture the upper deck.
Executive Deathmatch puts rival organizations in a Deathmatch-style battle inside of Freemode, with each VIP allotted just 10 lives.
Most Wanted: The heat is right around the corner, with all players in the organization hit with a 5-star wanted level. With a countdown of 10 minutes, the last player alive wins the challenge.
Market Manipulation: All open convenience stores are blipped on the map. Players have to race from store to store in a hold-up spree to collect as much money as possible. When time counts down, the player with the most money wins.
Auto Buyout: Players must steal and deliver as many vehicles as they can. Every vehicle has a specific value displayed when you enter the vehicle, so choose your acquisitions carefully. The player with the highest total value of vehicles delivered at the end of the timer wins.
There’s also a new Adversary Mode called Extraction included in Executives and Other Criminals. Bodyguards must quickly find and extract an Executive Target from their downed jet before a Hit Squad can kill the target.
When you’ve had enough action for the day and just want to relax (or throw a massive party), you now can have the perfect getaway. Super Yachts are now for sale – only one per player – and serves as seafaring apartments. They come with a personal captain that can sail the yacht to between 12 different locations, a personal bartender, and an anti-air defense system to protect against unwanted visitors. Higher-end models also include hot tubs and a complimentary helicopter and watercraft. Super Yachts can also be personalized by giving them custom names, flags, and hull color.
Grand Theft Auto 5 was originally released on September 17, 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It came later to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 18, 2014, and to PC on April 14, 2015. You can check out our review of GTA5 on PlayStation 4 here.
