Grand Theft Auto 6 Grand Theft Auto VI Grand Theft Auto VI Physical Release Held Back News PS5 Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto VI May Not Receive Physical Release At Launch In Effort To Avoid Spoilers

Polish website PPE.pl has claimed that a physical version of Grand Theft Auto VI may be held back by Take-Two and Rockstar Games in order to avoid spoilers leaking online.

Graczdari, the insider at PPE.pl has previously hit the ball on a number of previous release date, including those for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on disc and the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Now, it claims that Take-Two has no plans for a physical edition for Grand Theft Auto VI at launch.

We’re hearing more and more that the physical version won’t be released simultaneously with the digital version to prevent leaks. We’re getting conflicting reports – some say the physical version will arrive three to four weeks after the digital release, while others say it won’t happen until early 2027. More information will be available in mid-February.

Right now nothing official has been confirmed, but it’s well documented that games have leaked sometimes weeks ahead of release thanks to physical copies getting their street date broken. Holding back a disc release for GTA VI would presumably go a long way to avoid this type of thing happening, although for physical collectors this is probably not the news they want to hear right now.

Grand Theft Auto VI is pencilled in for a November 19, 2026 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Last week, it was reported that Rockstar Games had seemingly granted a terminally ill fan the chance to go hands-on with the highly anticipated title ahead of release.
