Rockstar Games is not featuring any microtransactions or generative AI in Grand Theft Auto VI, according to Andy Cortez and Greg Miller of Kinda Funny Gamecast.
The pair revealed in the latest episode of the show that they asked Rob Nelson, co-studio head of Rockstar North, about the use of gen AI or the possible application of micro transactions in the highly anticipated crime romp, to which the answer was simply “no.” “Can you use your own real-world money to buy things in the game? No monetization,” said Cortez. “I asked point blank, ‘is AI in the game?’ No AI,” added Miller.
This was also backed up by a report in the New York Times that stated, “Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar said, has well over 600,000 animations, compared to 55,000 animations in Grand Theft Auto V and 300,000 animations in Red Dead Redemption 2.” Rockstar also “emphasised the game’s human-made craft.”
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026.
