You have three main storage options for your PS5: The hard drive itself (which gives you around 667GB of usable space), extended storage (i.e. a USB device or other such item) and Cloud Storage from your PlayStation Plus subscription.

To check how much is on your PS5 hard drive (SSD) simply go to Settings > Storage.

How Do I Make Space On My PS5?

At some point you’ll want to free up some space on your PS5, usually when installing a particularly heft game. To do so, you an either move some of your PS4 games to an extended storage device – saving them for a rainy day while freeing up space on the PS5 – or simply deleting existing games and other content from your PS5.

To do this, go to Settings > Storage > Games and Apps. Next, select the item(s) you want to delete, filtering by usage data, size and name. Finally, choose Delete to remove it from the PS5. This can be done to remove whole titles or in some cases, specific data.

How To Delete PS4 And PS5 Data From Your Console

Select Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings. Next, head to Saved Data (PS5) or Saved Data (PS4). Choose Console Storage > Delete and the tick the boxes of what content you want to delete.

How To Move PS4 Data To A USB Drive

Choose Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS4). Next, choose Console Storage > Copy to USB Drive. Here, select a game and you’ll see all related save files. Tick the boxes on the items you wish to move, and then choose Copy.

Choose Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS4). Choose USB Drive > Copy to Console Storage. Next, choose a game to reveal related files, and then tick the items yo wish to transfer. Finally, hit Copy.
