Infinity Ward community boss Robert Bowling has announced that German composer Hans Zimmer will be providing the score for the company’s hotly anticipated shooter, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Zimmer’s involvement in the sequel was previously rumored earlier this week, though it has now been confirmed as the real deal. According to reports, Modern Warfare 2 marks the first time he has composed a soundtrack exclusively for a videogame.
Renowned for his work on Hollywood blockbusters such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Gladiator, Zimmer has racked up a multitude of prestigious awards in the past, including a Golden Globe for Disney’s The Lion King, a Satellite Award for The Last Samurai, and a Grammy Award for The Dark Knight.
Modern Warfare 2 is due out in November 2009.
