Yesterday’s Helldivers 2 PS5 patch 1.000.102 includes a feature that wasn’t documented in the patch notes – flying bugs! Yep, as noted by WindowsCentral, Shriekers are now being encountered in the game, dive bombing players and slashing with their sharp talons while emitting a high-pitched scream.
In response to players encountering these foes, Johan Pilestedt, CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios, had the following to say on Twitter:
I’ve heard rumors of flying bugs in @helldivers 2. I want to officially refute such preposterous claims. Everyone knows that ‘Bugs can’t fly’. And I’m not alone in thinking this. The Ministry of Truth agrees that this is propaganda from bug sympathizers that want to brainwash good people.

Helldivers 2 was released on February 8, 2024 for PS5 and PC, and despite being plagued by server issues for a few days after launch, the game enjoyed huge popularity on both formats and continues to sell well. Arrowhead Game Studios has also been very active in patching the game, with multiple updates rolling out for the past few weeks.
