Hideo Kojima wants a Silent Hill game made with the FOX engine

Hideo Kojima has expressed his desire to see a Silent Hill game made on his company’s brand new FOX Engine.

Writing on Twitter (via a rather dodgy Google translation, we might add), Kojima-san noted Silent Hill’s lack of action-oriented gameplay would make it an ideal fit for the new tech, since the visuals would take centre stage.

“Silent Hill is in closed room setting and doesn’t require full action so that we can focus on the graphic quality. Enemy doesn’t have to be a lot or move fast. It only requires scariness by graphics and presentation. As being a creator making action game in open world, such game is very enviously attractive. Wish someone could create this on FOX engine,” said Kojima-san.

Silent Hill has been outsourced to western developers for the past couple of games now, with Team Silent’s last effort being Silent Hill 4: The Room in 2004.

The latest entry, Silent Hill: Downpour, was released in March 2012 and was actually a pretty decent stab at creating a quintessentially old-school survival horror experience. The franchise will make its debut on PlayStation Vita later this year with the multiplayer-centric offering, Silent Hill: Book of Memories.
