Hiroyuki Sanada Is Reportedly In Talks To Feature In The Ghost Of Tsushima Movie

According to DanielRPK, Shogun star Hiroyuki Sanada is currently in talks to appear in the Ghost of Tsushima movie.

PlayStation Studios hasn’t confirmed anything about Sanada’s potential involvement in the film, but that hasn’t stopped fans from talking about who he could be playing. One favourite seems to be Lord Shimura, who serves as protagonist Jin’s uncle and protector.

Here’s a couple of Redditor comments:

As much as I want the cast of the game to reprise their roles, he would be a killer Shimura. He’s pretty much perfect as Lord Shimura. I would be very surprised if he was cast as anyone else.

In addition to appearing in Amazon TV’s Shogun, Sandaa also appeared The Last Samurai, Sunshine, and Lost. Video game fans will probably recognise him as Scorpions from the rebooted Mortal Kombat movie, a role that he is set to reprise in the sequel.

The Ghost of Tsushima movie was announced by Sony back in 2021 and is currently without a release date, although given that it’s in the early stages of production at this point, it’s still a long ways off.
