Hollow Knight Silksong Is Launching Before Holiday 2025 And Is ‘Not Tied To A Console Release’

Matthew Griffin has confirmed that Hollow Knight Silksong will launch before Holiday 2025, which presumably means we can expect it to arrive at any point between August — October. However, Griffin was quick to note that the game’s launch is not tied to a console release, referring to speculation that it would arrive day-and-date with the new Xbox handheld.

“I confirmed BEFORE Holiday – we are not tied to a console release,” said Griffin on the game’s Discord. Previously, Microsoft’s Sarah Bond revealed that Hollow Knight Silksong would be “available at launch and available on Game Pass,” resulting in some confusion about when we’d actually see the game.

Griffin’s comments at least clear things up a bit, although a concrete release date for Hollow Knight Silksong has yet to be announced.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is in development for PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, and was originally conceived as DLC for the original Hollow Knight. The project grew in scope however, and was instead made into a full-fledged sequel featuring more than 165 new enemies and more than 100 different checkpoints.
