As far as upcoming PlayStation Network releases go, Rainbow Moon is rather high-profile. We’ve been covering the game here on PSU and looking out for new details to share. Lately, the topic of a PlayStation Vita port for this massive strategy RPG has come to the forefront.
In a statement made to RPGamer earlier today, Marcus Pukropski of developer SideQuest Studios hinted that a PS Vita (or even Steam!) version of Rainbow Moon could be released if the circumstances are right. “It would be great to see Rainbow Moon on other systems,” said Pukropski when asked which platforms could receive a port. “We received a lot of feedback from users that asked for a Vita version, so this would probably be one of the highest possibilities . . . A strong reception and support from our fans will increase the chances for a port to other platforms.”
That’s definitely a good sign, but further leanings toward a Vita release were hinted at on Twitter moments ago. When Editor-in-Chief of GamesRadar Gary Steinman tweeted his desire for a cross-play-compatible version for PS Vita, publisher EastAsiaSoft responded, saying “Maybe, maybe, maybe,…. :)”. When prodded further, EastAsiaSoft clarified: “There’s a good chance for Rainbow Moon on Vita if the PS3 version does well.”
Sounds good to us! If there’s one thing PS Vita needs, it’s more meaty RPG experiences. What we’ve seen of Rainbow Moon thus far looks great; you can check it out when it hits the European PlayStation Store on July 4 and one week later in North America.
