The beloved PlayStation series Infamous may return, but not directly from its creators. Speaking with MinnMax, director Nate Fox confirmed Sucker Punch would be open to another developer handling a remaster. That move could let the studio stay focused on new projects. It would also give fans the chance to revisit one of PlayStation’s most iconic series.
Earlier this year, Fox also said he’d love to revisit Infamous. He did, however, stress that Sucker Punch is a one-game-at-a-time studio focused on Ghost of Yōtei.
The Infamous series carved out a unique spot in PlayStation’s history. Launching in 2009, the original introduced Cole MacGrath, a courier turned superhero in a city on the brink. With fluid traversal, moral choices, and explosive powers, it became a fan favorite. Sequels like Infamous 2, Festival of Blood, and Second Son only grew their reputation.
Sony owns studios like Bluepoint Games and Nixxes, which specialize in remakes and remasters. For all we know, one could already be working quietly on Infamous. Only time will tell if that’s the case.
Ghost of Yōtei hits shelves on October 2nd.
